Hartig has linked up with compatriot and Zenit coach Vlastimil Petrzela after impressing during a trial period at the club's winter training camp in Spain. "He is lacking a bit of stamina but he is what we are looking for in attack," Petrzela said. Zenit will pay Bohemians, the Czech 1. liga's bottom club, a fee in the region of €300,000.
Czech connection
Hartig joins fellow countrymen Martin Horák, Pavel Mares and Radek Sírl as well as Slovakian goalkeeper Kamil Contofalský at the Petrovsky stadium. The 26-year-old had a loan spell with AC Sparta Praha in 2001, when he caught the eye with a goal in the UEFA Champions League against Feyenoord. He was subsequently called up to the Czech Republic squad but remains uncapped.
