Golanski joins Legia legion

Members

Legia Warszawa have signed highly-rated young defender Pawel Golanski on loan from LKS Lódz.

Option to buy
The Polish champions have taken Golanski on loan with the option to buy him in the summer should the 21-year-old, who was a member of the Polish side that won the UEFA European Under-18 Championship in Finland in 2001, settle at the club.

Defining achievement
Golanski is now a member of the Polish Olympic football team, coached by Edward Kejndinst, but his achievements under Michal Globisz when Poland's U18 side overcame the Czech Republic 3-1 in the final have been the cornerstone of his reputation.

Saganowski stays
Meanwhile, Marek Saganowski, the former national player bought from Odra Wodzislaw last summer, has signed a new three-and-a-half year contract with the Polish champions. "His previous contract was about to expire in June," said club director Janusz Oledzki. "The new one is valid until 2006."

Training camp
Legia are currently on a short nine-day training camp at Solec Kujawski, preparing to head from snowy Poland to the warmer climes of Cyprus and Turkey to complete their preparations for the second half of the Polish season. The Ekstraklasa kicks off again on 7 March.
