Spanish side Club Atlético Osasuna have signed Uruguay striker Richard Morales from Club Nacional.

Club Atlético Osasuna have bolstered their squad with the signing of Uruguay striker Richard Morales from Club Nacional.

'Important step'
The 27-year-old international has agreed a three-year contract and will be unveiled at a press conference on Monday as the club look to ease their relegation worries. "This is a very important step for me," Morales said. "I will prove that these people haven't made a mistake in hiring me. I expect to score a lot of goals and fight for the championship with Osasuna."

'A lot of attitude'
Morales will join countryman Pablo García in the Osasuna ranks and new coach Javier Aguirre welcomed his imminent arrival. "I have faced him before on the pitch and he is a very tricky forward to cover," he said. "He's tall, big, with very good heading ability and a lot of attitude."

Three championships
Morales scored twice in the FIFA World Cup play-off with Australia to take Uruguay to the finals but was guilty of missing a chance in the final minute of their last group game against Senegal, meaning the South American side were eliminated. He began his career playing for CA Platense before moving to CA Basáñez. In 1999 he signed for Nacional, where he won three consecutive national championships, the last in December.
