Lazio and Perugia eye last four

Members

S.S. Lazio beat AS Bari and AC Perugia overcame Juventus FC in Italian Cup quarter-final first-leg ties.

Unwanted double for D'Agostino
Twenty-year-old Bari striker Gaetano D'Agostino scored twice - one for his side, one against - as the Serie B club lost 2-1 against Lazio in Rome.

Castroman opener
In a quiet first half, Argentinian midfield player Lucas Castromán put the home side ahead after 41 minutes with a low shot from the edge of the area. In the 66th minute the visitors drew level when Lazio defender Fernando Couto spilled a pass and D'Agostino picked up the loose ball and dribbled round a defender before sending a shot between goalkeeper Emanuele Concetti's legs.

Lazio late show
Bari seemed to have clinched a draw, but in the 89th minute Lazio swung in a corner, Bari defender Diaw Doudou's headed clearance hit D'Agostino in the back and the ball ended up in the back of the net.

Perugia win in Turin
In Wednesday's other tie, Perugia won 2-1 at Juventus to move to the verge of the semi-finals. Marcelo Zalayeta gave hosts Juventus a 43rd-minute lead but Fabrizio Miccoli equalised a minute later and snatched a winner eight minutes after half-time.

Cosmi delighted
Perugia coach Serse Cosmi was delighted with his team's performance. "Obviously it's a different kind of match from Serie A, but I'm delighted with the result," he said. "We really care about doing well in this Cup. We can't afford to relax. Even if you win 3-0 against Juve, they're always capable of coming back at you."

Yesterday's game
In yesterday's quarter-final first-leg encounter AC Milan drew 0-0 with AC Chievo Verona, while tomorrow night Vicenza Calcio square off with AS Roma.
