Everton make double swoop

Members

Everton FC have agreed loan deals for United States striker Brian McBride and Egyptian defender Ibrahim Said.

Subject to work permits
The signings are subject to the approval of work permits and, assuming there are no problems, the pair should be available to make their debuts in the Premiership game at Tottenham Hotspur FC on 12 January.

MLS commitments
McBride will join the Merseysiders on a three-month loan from US Major League Soccer, where he plays for Columbus Crew. The 30-year-old, who worked with Everton manager David Moyes while the latter was in charge of first division Preston North End FC, will return home for the start of the MLS season in April.

Said and done
Said, meanwhile, has also agreed personal terms and will spend the rest of the season at Goodison Park, where he impressed during a two-week trial last summer. The 23-year-old is then expected to return to Cairo-based club Al-Ahly FC. Everton lie fifth in the Premiership table after Wednesday's 2-2 home draw with Manchester City FC.
