FC Shakhtar Donetsk have signed Yugoslavian Under-21 international Milan Jovanović on a four-and-a-half year contract from FK Vojvodina.
Vojvodina regular
The Yugoslavian club will get €1.1m for the young forward plus a percentage of the fee if he moves on to another side. The 22-year-old has been a regular in the Vojvodina side for the past 18 months since arriving from FK Radnički Niš. This season he has scored seven goals in 12 matches. In December Jovanović spent ten days in the training camp of Shakhtar's Ukrainian rivals FC Dynamo Kyiv.
'Financial injection'
"I wanted to play abroad and Vojvodina did not object since for them it meant a significant financial injection," Jovanović said. "I like Ukraine as a country. Dynamo were too slow to decide and Shakhtar were very fair."
