Article body
FC København's 3-0 victory over Silkeborg IF on Sunday means the capital club will head into the spring season of the Danish Superliga with a nine-point lead over Brøndby IF.
Total control
In the final round of fixtures before the winter break, Hans Backe's side controlled the match from start to finish against the bottom club and ran out convincing winners thanks to three goals in the opening 25 minutes. Faroe Islands international Todi Jónsson opened the scoring on 16 minutes and added his second five minutes later to give the hosts a two-goal cushion at the Parken stadium. South African international Sibusiso Zuma scored a third to put the result beyond doubt midway through the half and leave Silkeborg in desperate relegation trouble.
Emotional for Krogh
On an emotional day for Brøndby IF goalkeeper Mogens Krogh, his side emerged as 2-0 away victors in their match against Køge BK. Krogh, making his final appearance for the club before retiring from football, was seldom called into action in a match the hosts won with relative ease. Michael Laudrup's side took the lead through Matias Jonsson on 77 minutes, before Peter Foldgast sealed the three points four minutes from time. Both sides finished the match with ten men, as both Peter Madsen and Henrik Eggerts saw red.
Farum delight
Newcomers Farum BK can also enjoy the winter break after cementing third place in the standings with a 2-1 home win against Odense BK. OB looked to have sealed all three points with a penalty from Michael Hemmingsen six minutes before the interval, but a dramatic finale saw Jacob Gregersen and Andreas Havlykke score in added time to turn the tide in the hosts' favour.
Rasmussen on target
AGF Aarhus moved up to ninth place, and clear of the relegation zone, as Morten Rasmussen scored the only goal of the game against Aalborg BK. Rasmussen, who impressed at the UEFA European U-17 Championship in Denmark earlier this year, sealed victory for AGF over their Jutland rivals with a magnificent header on 75 minutes.
Rathe double
Following three successive wins, Viborg FF were brought back to earth with a bang by a rampant FC Midtjylland side. Thomas Frandsen gave Viborg the lead after eight minutes, but Midtjylland, knocked out of this season's UEFA Cup by RSC Anderlecht, hit back through Thomas Rathe on the stroke of half-time. Jesper Mikkelsen's brilliant effort just after the interval put the hosts further ahead before Rathe scored his second in the last minute.
Spoils shared
In the weekend's other fixture, Esbjerg fB and Akademisk Boldklub shared the spoils in an uninspiring 1-1 draw that kept EfB in fifth place and AB in seventh.
