Ferencvárosi TC have signed Hungary striker Thomas Sowunmi on a free transfer.
Contract cancelled
The 24-year-old, capped eight times by his country, was available after the Hungarian Football League cancelled his contract at Dunaferr SE. Sowunmi, who scored 28 goals in 129 matches in the NB I for Dunaferr, had gone to the league's legal committee to request that his contract be terminated.
Aiming high
The forward, who will wear the No90 shirt at Ferencváros, is looking forward to helping his new club maintain their good form. "I'm starting a new life at FTC and I'm intending to reach the top in the green-and-white shirt," said Sowunmi. Ferencváros are likely to take top spot heading into the winter break, provided they beat basement club Kispest-Honvéd FC in a rearranged fixture on 6 December.
Third in a row
Sowunmi has signed a deal with the club until the summer of 2005. He is the third forward to leave Dunaferr for Ferencváros in recent times, following on from Marek Penska and Attila Tököli.
