Ruch winger forced to quit

KS Ruch Chorzów's Slawomir Paluch has been told he will not play again because of injury.

Failed surgery
Doctors told the 27-year-old this week that he would not be able to play again following a series of unsuccessful operations on the injury in Poland and Germany. Ruch president Krystian Rogala said: "He was always a hardworking player with great ability, but he won't play again."

'These things happen'
Winger Paluch, who also played for Odra Wodzislaw, KS Górnik Zabrze and Wisla Kraków, made 156 Ekstraklasa appearances in all, scoring 26 goals. However, his last match was the Polish Cup tie against Legia Warszawa last November. He said: "These things happen. Some players end their careers earlier, some later. I don't know what to do next as I never thought it would happen."
