Embarrassing 11-3 defeat
St. Gallen, second from bottom in the Nationalliga A, suffered an embarrassing 11-3 defeat by their feeder club and local rivals FC Wil 1900 on Sunday. It is thought Staub, who was promoted from St. Gallen's Under-21 side when Gerald Castella left the club in September, will now return to his previous coaching position.

No rush
"The club is searching for a new coach," said a club spokesman. "He could possibly begin next week but we are not yet in a position to discuss names." Thomas Müller, the club president, added: "We do not want to rush to a decision. In the current situation we cannot risk any mistakes."

Host of errors
Last Sunday's defeat set a record for the number of goals conceded in a fixture in Switzerland's top division. Staub said his side had been guilty of a host of errors and the board of directors said morale within the team was low, claiming that some players were not talking to each other. St. Gallen are in the relegation zone with just four games left before the mid-season cut-off point, when the top eight sides in the 12-team league continue in a reduced league.
