Struggling Como lose Carbone

Como Calcio forward Benito Carbone is out for over a month after suffering a thigh strain.

Como Calcio's disappointing start to the Serie A season has been compounded by the news that the experienced forward Benito Carbone is likely to be sidelined until the New Year after suffering an injury in Sunday's 1-0 defeat by Bologna FC.

Scan result
A scan has revealed that the 31-year-old strained his thigh in the match and will be out of action for over a month. The injury is a blow for Como coach Loris Dominissini, whose team bottom of the table with just four points.

Fonseca signing
Earlier this week Dominissini completed the signing of 33-year-old Uruguayan forward Daniel Fonseca to boost the forward line of a club that has managed just five goals in nine matches, the lowest in Serie A, an arrival that looks even more important with Carbone's injury.

English sojourn
Carbone returned to Italy in the summer, bringing an end to a six-year sojourn in England which included spells with Sheffield Wednesday FC, Aston Villa FC, Bradford City AFC, Derby County FC and Middlesbrough FC. In Italy, he had previously played for Torino Calcio, SSC Napoli and Internazionale FC.
