Struggling Como Calcio have signed Uruguayan international Daniel Fonseca on a one-year deal.

Como Calcio have signed Uruguayan international Daniel Fonseca. The 33-year-old striker had been without a club since last June when his contract with Club Nacional de Football expired.

One-year deal
Fonseca, who has signed a one-year contract with the newly promoted side, has played a total of eleven seasons in Serie A after moving to Italy to sign for Cagliari Calcio in 1990. The forward has also played for SSC Napoli, AS Roma and Juventus FC, scoring 74 goals in total.

Famous hat-trick
Fonseca's best season in Italy was in 1992 for Napoli when he scored 16 Serie A goals and stunned the Mestalla stadium by scoring five goals in a 5-1 away win in the UEFA Cup. But the Uruguayan has played only 42 league matches since joining Juventus in 1997 and then moving back to South America with Club Atlético River Plate and Nacional.

Rock bottom
Como have not won a match in the current Serie A season and are rock bottom with just four points. They also have the worst scoring record in Serie A, with just five goals in nine matches.
