Rednic boosts MTK
MTK were in typically ruthless mood at the Zalaegerszegi Varosi stadium, with Daniel Eugen Rednic's cross providing the perfect ball for Norbert Elek to open the scoring after 17 minutes. The Romanian midfield player played a part in MTK's second too, taking the free-kick from which Gáza Turi touched the ball on for Béla Illés to score his 13th goal of the season. István Faragó scored for Péter Bousik's side in the 52nd minute, but the champions could not find an equaliser.
Three for Ferencváros
Ferencváros returned to second place after a 3-0 win at home against Dunaferr SE. Attila Tököli opened the scoring with only 20 minutes remaining at the Ülloi úti stadium, but it was not until added time that Péter Lipcsei and Tököli added further goals to complete the win. "It was very hard to broke the deadlock as the visitors defended well but at the end of the day I'm happy with the team's and my personal performance," said Tököli.
Good win for Újpest
Újpest kicked the weekend off in style with a 3-1 win at Györi ETO FC on Friday. A 15-metre strike by midfield player Henrik Rósa opened the scoring for Újpest in the 20th minute, and he turned provider 12 minutes later, providing the cross for Ferenc Horváth to double his side's advantage. Rósa also provided the decisive cross for Tibor Tokody to score an easy third for Újpest with 15 minutes remaining before Attila Baumgartner's 18-metre strike restored some pride for Györ with seven minutes remaining. The win temporarily moved Újpest into second place.
Two for Szabó
In Saturday's other games, Kispest Honvéd FC won 2-0 against Békéscsabai EFC in the derby game between the two relegation-threatened sides. Zsolt Bárányos opened the scoring in the first half before Marius Sasu added a second in the 62nd minute. Elsewhere, Debreceni VSC were held to a goalless draw at home by Videoton FC Fehérvár, while Siófoki BSE were 2-1 winners against MFC Sopron. András Horváth had given the visitors the lead but a goal in either half from Csaba Szabó earned the points for Siófok.
