Points on the board
Moya took charge as Espanyol claimed their first three points of the season in a 2-0 home victory over fellow struggers Recreativo - and is now expected to stay in the job for the rest of the campaign, results permitting.
Change of direction
Espanyol president Daniel Sánchez Llibre confirmed the promotion of Moya, coach of Espanyol B for eleven years, saying he was in no rush to appoint a new man. The latter had been preparing the B team for their match in Burgos before he was seconded to the seniors in Barcelona.
Opportunity knocks
"Football is football and now I have the chance to coach in the first division," said Moya, whose day was capped as two second-half goals from Roger gave the Catalans their first win since April.
