Article body
Spanish Primera División strugglers RCD Espanyol have suspended coach Juande Ramos ahead of a possible sacking on Tuesday, club president Daniel Sanchez Llibre has announced.
Board decision
"Espanyol have suspended Juande Ramos from his employment as coach and are awaiting ratification of his dismissal by the board next Tuesday," Sanchez Llibre told reporters on Sunday morning.
Caretakers oversee victory
Llibre confirmed that Ramos would not take his place on the sidelines for Sunday's match against RC Recreativo de Huelva, with youth coach Ramon Moya and the club's sporting director Eloi Perez in charge for the eventual 2-0 home win, Espanyol's first league victory of the season at the sixth attempt.
Saturday hint
Ramos, who only replaced Paco Flores as Espanyol coach in May after leaving Real Betis Balompié, had told reporters on Saturday that he did not see eye-to-eye with the board and hinted at a likely exit from the club.
