Article body
Ligue 1 strugglers Stade Rennais FC have sacked coach Philippe Bergeroo and replaced him with former Lille OSC coach Vahid Halilhodzic.
Bottom of the table
Bergeroo only arrived at Rennes in the summer but departs with the club bottom of the table having won just one of their ten league matches. Halilhodzic led LOSC from the French second division and into the UEFA Champions League before leaving at the end of last season.
Coaching CV
The 50-year-old Bosnia-Herzegovnian coached AS Beauvais, Raja de Casablanca as well as LOSC after finishing a playing career which took him to FC Nantes Atlantique and Paris Saint-Germain FC. Ironically, Bergeroo turned down the chance to replace Halilhodzic at LOSC before accepting the Rennes job in May, where he succeeded Christian Gourcuff.
PSG post
Bergeroo, who was part of France's 1986 FIFA World Cup squad, played for FC Girondins de Bordeaux, LOSC and Toulouse FC. He worked under Gérard Houllier at Liverpool FC before taking charge of PSG in 1999, a post from which he was dismissed 18 months later.
