UEFA Warsaw summit attracts star lineup

Europe's national team coaching fraternity has responded in force to UEFA’s invitation to attend a key coaching conference in Warsaw later this month. Many of football’s most famous names have signalled that they will be present to debate matters of the moment in the technical sector.

Current issues
The coaches of Europe's national teams will be joined by distinguished guests and speakers to look at current European and world football issues at the fifth UEFA Conference for European National Coaches in the Polish capital from 23 to 25 September.

Exchange views
European football's governing body stages this conference after each FIFA World Cup and EURO final round, to enable the continent's technical elite to exchange views and give feedback to UEFA on a variety of topics.

Coaching elite
Among the list of national-team coaches at the Warsaw gathering will be Sven-Göran Eriksson (England), Jacques Santini (France), Rudi Völler (Germany) and Giovanni Trapattoni (Italy), to mention but a few of the coaching elite who will be present alongside members of UEFA's Technical Development Committee and Jira Project panel.

Guests and speakers
Guests and speakers invited to attend include Luiz Felipe Scolari, who led Brazil to the world title in Korea/Japan this summer, Guus Hiddink, the Dutchman who took co-hosts Korea Republic to the semi-finals, Philippe Troussier, who guided the other co-hosts Japan through the first round, and Pierluigi Collina, the Italian who refereed the final between Brazil and Germany.

World Cup review
The first day of discussions will centre on a review of the World Cup final round, as well as a study of the two finalists. Events in Korea/Japan will also dominate the agenda on the second day – the conference will look at the activities of the competition technical study group, led by UEFA Technical Development Committee chairman Dr Jozef Venglos, and analyse the goals scored, while several European coaches will be interviewed about their experiences in the Far East.

EURO spotlight
EURO 2004™ takes over the spotlight on the final day of the conference, with the technicians looking ahead at key issues which are likely to arise in the latest edition of Europe's top national-team competition.
