Georgian champions FC Torpedo Kutaisi have fired midfield player David Janashia.

Georgian champions FC Torpedo Kutaisi have fired former international midfield player David Janashia from the club citing poor form.

Home defeat
Ukrainian head coach Olexander Shtelin took the decision after Torpedo's 1-0 home defeat against main competitors FC Dinamo Tbilisi. "I was relying on Janashia's experience and pace," Shtelin said. "But he did not take into account my tasks, and I am taking subsequent action."

Introduced late on
Janashia was introduced with 15 minutes to go, just after Carlos Alberto Da Rocha had given the visitors the lead. Torpedo are still top of the table following the defeat, but only on goal difference, albeit with a game at hand.

Third time unlucky
The midfield player, who has played ten times and scored three goals for Georgia, has been fired by Torpedo twice before. However, he rejoined the club at the beginning of this season from FC Dinamo Batumi.

Record scorer
Janashia has played more matches and scored more times for Torpedo in the Georgian league than anyone else, gathering 85 goals in 212 matches.
