Standard announced this morning that the veteran trainer had left the club "by mutual consent" after four defeats in the opening five league games left the Sclessin side bottom of the table.
End of the affair
"Following several meetings on Sunday, the club's board have decided to end the relationship with coach Robert Waseige. Both parties agreed to the decision," said a statement on the club's official website.
National service
Waseige, 63, had returned to Standard in the summer having left his post as Belgium coach after the FIFA World Cup finals in Korea/Japan. He previously coached the club in the 1990s. Dominique D'Onofrio will act as caretaker.
