Article body
APOEL Nicosia FC returned to the top of the Cypriot first division as they beat Enosis Neon Paralimniou FC 5-2 with new Greek signing Georgos Vakouftsis finding the net four times.
Superb debut
Vakouftsis was virtually unstoppable, scoring four times in 66 minutes in his starting debut, and with APOEL already resting seven first team players following their UEFA Cup victory last Thursday against Grazer AK. Although Vakouftsis' two first-half efforts were equalised by Angelos Tsolakkis and Georgos Peklis, the second period saw APOEL extend their lead, Marinos Ouzounides getting the fifth for the only side now with 100 per cent record from four games.
Unbeaten records preserved
Olympiakos Nicosia FC are second after dropping their first points of the season in a 1-1 draw with fellow unbeaten side Anorthosis Famagusta FC. Marios Neophytou put Anorthosis ahead from the penalty spot on 17 minutes, but a quarter-hour later Olympiakos were on level terms through Cypriot international Andreas Melanarkitis.
Kekic double
Also still to lose are Omonia Nicosia FC, who beat Aris Limassol FC 4-0 at home. Two goals from Ljubisa Kekic and a goal a piece from Zoran Stepjanovic and Lefteris Kontolefteros lifted Omonia to third whilst Aris - who had Nigerian player Efion Egbeniogh sent off late in the match - remain bottom.
