Slovenia round-up: Battling Koper in command

NK Koper stayed top of the first division with a hard-fought win against NK Dravograd.

NK Koper maintained their advantage at the top of the Slovenian first division at the weekend despite leaving it late to beat NK Dravograd 3-2.

Jermanis the man
The first half was scoreless but Argentinian star Sebastian Vitagliano was on target on 52 minutes, Dravograd equalising through striker Oskar Drobne. Koper restored the lead six minutes later when midfield player Alfred Jermanis slammed in. Aleksandar Magdic made it 2-2 and Dravograd looked to have earned an unlikely point but Jermanis cut their celebrations short, drilling in his second with a fine finish.

Olimpija in touch
Second-placed NK Olimpija Ljubljana, meanwhile, remain three points adrift after defeating NK Publikum 1-0, defender Dominik Bersnjak hitting the decisive goal on 16 minutes following a dangerous free-kick from veteran Croatian playmaker Robert Prosinecki.

Two scoreless draws
Elsewhere, UEFA Cup participants NK Primorje thrashed newly promoted NK Ljubljana 4-0 while NK Korotan and NK Rudar Velenje fought out a scoreless draw, as did NK Maribor and NK Era Šmartno.
