Yugoslavia round-up: Partizan start season in style

Members

UEFA Champions League participants FK Partizan thrashed FK Hajduk Kula 5-1 in their opening game.

Comprehensive win
Partizan captain Sasa Ilic scored the first from close range following a mix-up in the Hajduk defence and Andrija Delibasic doubled the lead from a Goran Trobok cross. The visitors gained a foothold through Nebojsa Malbasa but Damir Cakar ensured Partizan went in at half-time two goals to the good.

Partizan come out for seconds
Kula never looked like getting into the game and Cakar and Dejan Ognjenovic made sure they did not, scoring twice for the hosts in the second half.

Missed chances
Meanwhile, a first-day win eluded FK Crvena Zvezda for the fourth year running. The UEFA Cup hopefuls could only draw 0-0 against FK Radnicki Niš after a series of missed opportunities.

Disorganised defending
FK Sartid also drew when they were held 2-2 at home by FK Cukaricki. Nenad Mirosavljevic struck twice for Yugoslavia's other UEFA Cup entrants, who were let down by some poor defending.

Narrow wins
Elsewhere, Zoran Djuraskovic struck the only goal as FK Zeleznik beat FK, while Yugoslavian Under-19 international Ljubisa Vukelja was the solitary scorer in FK Vojvodina's defeat of FK Zeta.

New boys struggle
Elsewhere, top-flight new boys FK Radnicki Obrenovac lost 1-0 to FK Zemun, while the Montenegrin derby between FK Mogren and FK Sutjeska ended in stalemate.
