Europe's coaches have responded en masse to an invitation to attend the UEFA Elite Coaches' Forum.

Europe’s top club coaches have responded en masse to UEFA’s invitation to attend its annual coaches' gathering in September.

Famous current names
A star-studded lineup, containing some of the most famous current names in European coaching, will come to the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on 4 September for the fourth UEFA Elite Coaches' Forum.

Confirmed attendance
Those who have confirmed their attendance include Real Madrid CF coach Vicente del Bosque, Marcello Lippi (Juventus FC), Louis van Gaal (FC Barcelona) and Gérard Houllier (Liverpool FC).

Top figures
They will be joined by Klaus Topmöller (Bayer 04 Leverkusen), Matthias Sammer (BV Borussia Dortmund), Jupp Heynckes (Athletic Club Bilbao), Javier Irureta (RC Deportivo La Coruña), José Mourinho (FC Porto), Fernando Santos (Panathanaikos FC) and Fatih Terim (Galatasaray SK).

Annual gathering
UEFA is awaiting confirmation from several other big names for the September event, which has become an annual gathering to mark the start of another European season. The coaches will be reviewing the 2001/02 UEFA Champions League, and looking back at this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan from a coaching and technical perspective.

Issues and recommendations
European football’s governing body feels that the Elite Coaches’ Forum is of considerable importance, as it enables UEFA and Europe’s elite coaching community to discuss issues of mutual interest and draw up recommendations for the future in a variety of areas.
