FC Rostselmash Rostov-Na-Donu surprised PFC CSKA Moscow by coming from behind to win 3-2 in a postponed Premier-Liga fixture today.
Coach missing
Rostselmash were beaten 5-1 by CSKA in another league meeting less than a week ago and were determined to revenge, despite the absence of their head coach Anatoly Baidachny who was missing for unexplained reasons.
Popov own goal
CSKA took an early lead through Dmitry Kirichenko's penalty after Alexander Malygin fouled Andrey Solomatin. Rostselmash equalised quickly when Ruslan Nigmatullin parried a shot only for Denis Popov to deflect the rebound into his own net.
Another penalty
The Rostov side went ahead after 42 minutes when Alexey Zlydnev's run and precise pass found Arturas Fomenko in the CSKA box and the Lithuanian scored. On 84 minutes, Rostselmash extended their lead when Denis Evsikov handled in the area and Alexander Maslov converted the ensuing spot-kick. Kirichenko pulled a goal back for CSKA in the last minute with another penalty.
Five points adrift
The defeat leaves CSKA third in the table, five points adrift of leaders FC Lokomotiv Moscow. CSKA have 40 points while Lokomotiv lead the Premier-Liga with 45 points with FC Spartak Moscow second on 43.
