Yugoslavia’s champions FK Partizan have been ordered by UEFA to play their next European competition match behind closed doors.
Crowd trouble
The ruling by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body, announced on Friday, follows crowd trouble at the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round first-leg match between FK Partizan and FC Bayern München in Belgrade on 14 August. Partizan have also been fined CHF 20,000 (€13,600).
Hit by missiles
The UEFA disciplinary body heard that both Bayern goalkeeper Oliver Kahn and an assistant referee were hit by several missiles thrown by Partizan supporters at the match, which Bayern won 3-0.
Treatment needed
A UEFA statement said that the Scottish assistant referee, David Doig, was hit on the head and had to receive treatment on the pitch for several minutes before the match could restart. If Partizan are eliminated by Bayern, they will enter the first round of the UEFA Cup and the ban would come into place then.
