FC Lokomotiv Moscow could only manage a goalless draw with FC Anzhi Makhachkala on Monday.

Russian Premier-Liga leaders FC Lokomotiv Moscow lost valuable points after being held to a 0-0 draw by struggling FC Anzhi Makhachkala today as the Russian domestic season resumed after the break for the FIFA World Cup.

Gap narrowed
Lokomotiv have 30 points from 13 matches, but CSKA Moscow closed the gap on their city rivals to two points by beating FC Shinnik Yaroslavl 2-0. CSKA also have a game in hand.

Gusev opener
Inspirational midfield player Rolan Gusev put the army side ahead with a 53rd-minute penalty and Dmitry Kirichenko sealed the victory with a fine volley in stoppage time.

Dinamo win
Another Moscow side, Dinamo Moscow, moved into sixth place on 19 points after a 1-0 home win against Uralan Elista. Andrey Dyatelj scored the only goal of the game. The other Premier-Liga clubs return to action in the next two days with third-placed FC Krylya Sovetov Samara facing SC Rotor Volgograd tomorrow, while defending champions FC Spartak Moscow take on city rivals FC Torpedo-ZIL Moscow on Wednesday.
