Switzerland round-up: Basel drop first points

Swiss first division champions FC Basel and Neuchâtel Xamax FC are both on four points from their opening pair of fixtures after fighting out a 1-1 draw.

Home side Basel went ahead in the 14th minute through midfield player Sébastien Barberis, and held the lead for just under an hour of play until Fonseca Leandro levelled for the visitors to ensure they remain in fourth place, one place ahead of their hosts.

Drama at Thun
Visitors BSC Young Boys had to withstand a late FC Thun surge to win a dramatic game 4-3. The newly-promoted home team got off to a good start when Milaim Rama gave them a ninth-minute lead. However, by half time Young Boys were 3-1 up thanks to goals from Artur Petrosyan, Stéphane Chapuisat and Thomas Häberli.

Second defeat
Chapuisat seemed to have wrapped up the game for Young Boys five minutes after the break when he scored the visitors' fourth, but Yao Aziawonou soon pulled one back and the home side scored again with six minutes left through Rama, though Thun were unable to prevent a second defeat in their two matches. 

Wil pick up points
Thun's fellow top-flight newcomers FC Wil 1900 are now off the mark after an excellent 4-0 victory against FC Aarau. Mauro Lustrinelli opened the scoring on two minutes, and Felix Mordeku doubled the lead late in the first half. Two goals in the space of four second-half minutes not long past the hour from recent Brazilian arrival Nando and Dusan Pavlovic completed the triumph.
