Landskrona lead the Swedish pack

uefa.com looks forward to the resumption of the Allsvenskan after its FIFA World Cup break.

While most Swedes are still struggling to come to terms with the national side's second stage defeat against Senegal in the FIFA World Cup finals, the restart of the Allsvenskan on Wednesday night will shift the focus back to domestic football.

Impressive newcomers
The Swedish media will no doubt devote most of their attention to Allsvenskan newcomers Landskrona BoIS who, with seven matches played, are top of the league thanks to their attractive attacking tactics which have taken the league by storm.

Brazilian youngsters
Second-placed Örgryte IS have strengthened their squad with two Brazilian Under-21 players and even though the squad is vulnerable to injuries it remains to be seen if the Gothenburg side will be able to clinch the title for the first time in 17 years.

Eight goals for Ijeh
The chasing pack is lead by Malmö FF, Djurgårdens IF FF and Örebro SK FK. Malmö got off to a miserable start but the experience of coach Tom Prahl is starting to have the desired effect with a well-organised rearguard and Nigerian striker Peter Ijeh proving his worth with eight goals so far.

Stylish Djurgården
Last years runners up Djurgården have continued their good form with charming and delicate football, and with two of Sweden's brightest young stars, Kim Källström and goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson, Djurgården will no doubt be strong title contenders once again.

Kenyan duo
Örebro look more reliable this season than in previous years. Kenyan striking duo Paul Ouyga and Boniventure Maruti, along with youngster Jon Lundblad, should see to it that the team stay clear of the relegation zone this year.

Helsingborg eye revival
Swedish giants IFK Göteborg and Helsingborgs IF will look to improve on their relatively poor start, but Helsingborg will do so without young striker Rade Prica who has committed his future to 1. Bundesliga outfit FC Hansa Rostock. He has been replaced by veteran striker Hans Eklund who will spearhead the Helsingborg attack with Alvaro Santos.

Champions in poor shape
The bottom part of the table sees a couple of big surprises. Reigning champions Hammarby IF FF have been plagued by injuries but the team no doubt has the capacity to improve on their disappointing eleventh spot. Halmstads BK, IF Elfsborg and GIF Sundsvall will hope to improve on their indifferent displays with relegation at the moment a real possibility.

AIK bank on Uhrin
The biggest disappointment so far is no doubt the performance of AIK Solna. After coach Olle Nordin collapsed Peter Larsson was handed responsibility, but after only seven games he resigned and has been replaced by highly qualified Czech coach Dusan Uhrin who has the benefit of having Krister Nordin and Gary Sundgren back in the side.

High attendance figures
With 19 rounds to go anything can happen, and with the intensity and high quality football that is played in the Allsvenskan, it will not be surprising if the high attendance figures continue to rise during the remainder of the season.
