Article body
A hat-trick from Lumír Sedlácek gave newly-promoted SK Ceské Budéjovice a surprise 3-2 win over Bohemians Praha in the 1. Liga today.
Surprise leaders
The win puts Ceské on top of the first division after the first round of games of the new season. The visitors started confidently with Kamil Contofalský and Roman Jun going close, but it was Sedlácek who broke the deadlock with a curling free-kick from 15 metres out in the 37th minute. Sedlácek doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Michal Petrous handled the ball in the area in the 74th minute.
Hat-trick hero
Karel Dolezal reduced the arrears five minutes later, but once again Sedlácek converted from the penalty spot when Contofalsky was brought down in the area four minutes from time. Although Dolezal scored a second in the final minute, it was too little too late for Bohemians.
Points shared
Last year's third-placed finishers FK Viktoria Zizkov were held to a 1-1 draw by FK Chmel Blšany. Both goals came inside the opening six minutes as first Tomás Pesír scored for Chmel, and then Ales Pikl equalised for Zizkov.
Missed penalty
Newly-promoted FK Zlín took a point from their first game in the top-flight, as they drew 1-1 with FC Baník Ostrava. Baník scored first after only eight minutes as Zdenek Pospech headed in Martin Cízek's corner from close range. Martin Lukes crashed a header against Zlín's bar after 32 minutes, but almost immediately the home side equalised when Petr Zemanek scrambled the ball in. Baník had the chance to win the game in injury time when they were awarded a penalty, but Martin Prohászka's effort was saved by Branislav Rzeszoto.
Clean sheet
In the day's other game, FC Príbram had a scoreless draw with 1. FC Brno.
