Gomel jumped two places to first with their eighth straight victory, which came after a great start when Andrei Nazarov put the visitors ahead on two minutes. Sergei Papkovich equalised not long before half-time, but Gennady Bliznuk's 54th-minute penalty ensured all three points went back to Gomel.
Close at the top
The result means FC Neman Grodno drop to second place on goal difference, with just two points separating the top four. Zvezda remain eleventh.
