The Vitoria side announced the deal after Abelardo and his agents met with Alavés chairman Gonzalo Anton and the club's technical director Juan Carlos Rodriguez to reach an agreement on the transfer criteria.
Two-year deal
The Asturian Abelardo, due to sign a two-year contract with his new club, has been injured for most of the season at Barcelona, but played some outstanding games for the Catalan side in the last part of Primera División season.
New shirt launched
The player's presentation will coincide with the launch of the new club shirt for the coming season. A helicopter will fly over the city of Vitoria carrying a giant shirt to be shown to the entire population.
