Short contract
The Ukrainian coach, who signed a contract until December 2002, will join his new club in Moscow shortly. Anzhi are currently 13th in the table, a massive 17 points behind leaders FC Lokomotiv Moscow after, 12 games.
Italian pedigree
51-year-old Markevich is the most experienced coach in Ukraine, having overseen 281 Ukrainian Premier League matches. After Leonid Buryak was preferred to him as a head coach of Ukraine, Markevich spent some time in Italy, learning the trade from AS Roma coach Fabio Capello.
Ukrainian experience
Markevich has coached FC Volyn Lutsk, FC Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, FC Metalurh Zaporizhya and FC Karpaty Lviv during his career.
