CSKA end jinx to lift Russian Cup

Goals from Andrey Solomativ and Igor Yanovsky helped CSKA Moscow beat FC Zenit St. Petersburg 2-0 to win the Russian Cup in the Luzhniki stadium today.

Jinx halted
A crowd of 40,000 watched the capital city club lift the trophy, end a run of three consecutive cup final defeats and secure a place in next year's UEFA Cup.

CSKA went ahead on the half-hour mark when Solomativ rifled a shot into the far corner after a superb pass from Sergey Semak.

Lead doubled
Yanovsky doubled the advantage seven minutes after the break, heading in a corner from Rolan Gusev, who scored the only goal when the sides met in the Russian Premier-Liga back in March.
