Swiss first division champions FC Basel signed off their season in style with a 4-3 win over FC Lugano, whose consolation was a top-three place and a UEFA Cup place.

Tum gets winner
Christian Gimienez put Basel ahead on seven minutes, and a quarter-of-an-hour later were back in front again after Joel Magnin's equaliser was cancelled out by Mario Cantaluppi. Lugano shocked their hosts after half-time when Magnin and Julio Mernan Rossi but the visitors ahead, but Ivan Ergic levelled the scores before Herve Tum's 85th-minute winner.

Chapuisat finishes with goal
Grasshopper-Club secured second place ahead of their Swiss Cup final with Basle by drawing 3-3 with FC St. Gallen. Marco Walker's opener for St. Gallen was followed by Grasshoppers goals from Eduardo Ribeiro and Ricardo Nunez Pereyra that put their team ahead at the break. St. Gallen were ahead within ten minutes of the restart through Rainer Bieli and Daniel Imhof, but Stephane Chapuisat, on his last league game for Grasshoppers, secured the draw on 67 minutes.

Servette defeated
Fourth-placed Servette FC, also compete in the 2002/03 UEFA Cup, lost 1-0 to FC Zürich, whilst FC Sion, who finished bottom of the championship group, gained some consolation with a 3-1 victory over BSC Young Boys.
