Zalaegerszegi TE maintained their NB. 1 lead on Saturday with a 3-1 win against Dunaferr SE.

Zalaegerszeg stride on
The home side made short work of Dunaferr and former Hungary captain Flórián Urbán opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 19 minutes. Even Gábor Egressy's dismissal just after half-time did not deter Zalaegerszeg and Tamás Szamosi scored again after 51 minutes. Five minutes later Hungary striker Krisztián Kenesei added a third, and Iván Balaskó's strike for Dunaferr after 61 minutes was little more than a consolation.

MTK back to winning ways
Having lost their lead in the championship group to Zalaegerszeg a few rounds ago after a poor run of results, MTK Hungária got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory at home against Videoton FCF. MTK dominated the game and international striker István Ferenczi opened the scoring in the 15th minute from Ákos Füzi's left-wing cross. Brazilian Sorato equalised with a 38th-minute penalty but an excellent individual goal from Hungary Under-21 forward Péter Czvitkovics settled the result after 71 minutes.

Ferencváros hopes dashed
Ferencvárosi TC's slim hopes of winning the title evaporated as they lost 3-2 at fierce rivals Újpesti TE. Károly Erõs put Újpest ahead after 56 minutes and international defender Zsolt Löw made it 2-0 three minutes later. In the 61st and in the 64th minutes, substitute striker Alexandr Jovic scored two quick goals for visitors Ferencváros, but in the injury time Újpest's substitute striker Miklós Herczeg scored a winner.

Draws all round
In the relegation group, a peculiar run of results saw all three games end in 1-1 draws. István Tóth's goal for MFC Sopron was cancelled out by Kaha Sketiani's effort for Debreceni VSC, while Zoltán Bükszegi for relegated Vasas SC was balanced out by Károly Szanyó's goal for Györi ETO FC. A draw was not good news for Haladás VFC against Kispest Honvéd FC and they remain perilously close to relegation. Brazilian Leandro had given them the lead but Hungary U21 striker Sándor Torghelle equalised for Kispest.
