Ivanov seals tie
First division runaway leaders Sheriff led FC Zimbru Chisinau 2-0 after the first leg of their semi-final, but were pegged back when Lado Akhalaia pulled one back on aggregate through a Laso Akhalaia header. However, Sheriff secured a draw in the game and a win overall through Stanislav Ivanov's 67th-minute equaliser.
Easy win for Nistru
Nistru cruised through to the final with an 8-1 victory over FC Tiligul Tiraspol, to win 10-1 on aggregate. Serghei Ianchuk and Alexandru Blajco each secured two goals, while Lilian Popescu, Iurii Grosev, Nicolae Kopisteanskii and Iulian Bursuc joined them on the scoresheet. Oleg Hromtov scored a consolation for Tiligul.
Dress rehearsal
The two finalists, who meet in the cup decider on 22 May, face each other at Nistru on Saturday in the league, with the home team hoping to reduce Sheriff's 15-point cushion at the top.
