CSKA confirm Simoni departure

PFC CSKA Sofia will not renew the contract of Luigi Simoni at the end of the current season.

PFC CSKA Sofia will not renew the contract of former Internazionale FC coach Luigi Simoni at the end of the current season.

Time up
Simoni's contract was due to run out in August and the A PFG team said that they were not prepared to offer him a new deal. The 62-year-old will leave CSKA when the season ends on 31 May.

No replacement
The decision followed an extraordinary meeting of CSKA's management on Thursday and a meeting between Simoni and the club's owners earlier today following concerns over the club's future. CSKA have not decided as yet who will be Simoni's successor.

Cup defeat
CSKA, who have been Bulgarian Professional League champions 28 times, have won nine and lost seven of the 21 matches played under Simoni and were beaten 3-1 by arch-rivals PFC Levski Sofia in the Bulgarian Cup final on Wednesday.
