Georgia round-up: Torpedo go top

FC Torpedo Kutaisi returned to the top of the championship group in Georgia after their two main rivals FC Dinamo Tbilisi and FC Lokomotiv Tbilisi drew today.

Penalty miss
First-half goals from Andrey Poroshin, Shota Babunashvili, and Zurab Ionanidze, from the penalty spot, gave Torpedo a comfortable 3-0 win over FC Merani-91 Tbilisi. The three points put Torpedo a point clear at the top, with Dinamo and Lokomotiv level on points in second and third respectively, after the Tbilisi derby ended scoreless. Dinamo's Lado Burduli missed an eleventh-minute penalty.

Score draw
FC Dinamo Batumi and FC Kolkheti-1913 Poti drew 1-1 with a Shalva Afkhazava penalty, early in the second half, rescuing a point for Batumi after Mikhail Kobuladze had given the visitors a fourth minute lead.

WIT victorious
In the relegation group, FC WIT Georgia Tbilisi ran out 1-0 winners over FC Guria Lanchkhuti, with Giorgi Adamia scoring the only goal of the game. Goals from Shalva Isiani and Giorgi Koridze gave FC Sioni Bolnisi a 2-1 win over FC Samgurali Tskaltubo. The game between FC Metalurgi Zestaponi and FC Gorda Rustavi was goalless.
