Article body
PFC CSKA Sofia scored a rare victory over their city rivals PFC Levski Sofia in the championship group of the Bulgarian league with Vladimir Manchev scoring the only goal of the game.
Simoni absent
It had been over two years since CSKA last beat Levski, but despite missing a number of overseas players, and having their goalkeeping coach Stoyan Iordanov on the bench in the absence of the departing Luigi Simoni, they dominated from the outset.
Lacklustre Levski
After 14 minutes Metodi Deyanov's free-kick from the edge of the penalty area hit the post and Manchev volleyed home from close range. Levski, who have already been crowned champions, looked lacklustre in their response and slipped to only their second defeat of the season.
Marek win
Meanwhile, in the relegation group PFC Marek overcame PFC Lokomotiv Sofia 3-1 to move to the top of the table. Amiran Mudzhiri put the home side in front after seven minutes but a double strike from Velizar Dimitrov, and one from Doncho Donev, gave Marek the win. Dimitrov missed out on a hat-trick when he missed a 78th-minute penalty.
