Article body
En Avant Guingamp coach Guy Lacombe has replaced Jean Fernandez at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard after signing a two-year contract on Monday.
Fernandez departure
Under Fernandez's guidance, Sochaux promoted to first division last year and qualified for the UEFA Intertoto Cup this term. Fernandez arrived at Sochaux in September 1999, and is now leaving after his contract was not renewed.
Lacombe the saviour
Lacombe has already proven his qualities as a coach, despite one of the lowest budgets among the top-flight clubs, and managed to rescue save from relegation this season. Having arrived at Guingamp in 1998, Lacombe was contracted at the club until June 2003 but was freed from his contractual obligations to move to Sochaux. Former French international Bernard Genghini will join him as sports director.
