Bergeroo taking charge at Rennes

Phillipe Bergeroo is to become Stade Rennais FC coach, according to new assistant Pierre Dréossi.

Stade Rennais FC are appointing Phillipe Bergeroo as their coach according to his new assistant and one-time Lille OSC team-mate Pierre Dréossi.

Appointment for new season
Former Paris Saint-Germain FC coach Bergeroo will take over at the French first division club next season, along with Dréossi, who is to step down as sports director at Lille.

French international goalkeeper
Bergeroo, a French international goalkeeper during his playing career with FC Girondins de Bordeaux, Lille and Toulouse FC, is replacing Christian Gourcuff. He was sacked by PSG in December 2000 after under two years in charge.

'It is time to turn the page'
Dréossi confirmed his decision to leave his current club, where he took up his existing role in 1996, saying: "One must know when it is time to turn the page. I experienced six difficult but passionate years at Lille where we managed to build a great club. Now I will go to Rennes to accomplish another mission."
