Roberto Mancini has been confirmed as the new coach of S.S. Lazio.
One-year deal
The former Italian international has agreed to replace Alberto Zaccheroni at the helm of the Roman club, where he was part of the Scudetto-winning team under Sven-Göran Eriksson in 2000, and will guide Lazio into next season's UEFA Cup. The 37-year-old has signed a one-year deal with Lazio with the option of a second year.
Fiorentina job
Capped 36 times by Italy, Mancini joined Lazio in August 1997 from Sampdoria UC, leaving in January 2001 for a short spell in English football with Leicester City FC. This will be Mancini's second senior coaching role after a short spell at AC Fiorentina, from where he resigned on 11 January after ten months in charge. Mancini is set to be officially unveiled as coach at a press conference tomorrow afternoon at 1600CET.
