Italy round-up: Reggina and Empoli up as Napoli lose

Reggina Calcio and Empoli FC were today celebrating promotion to Serie A after nearest rivals SSC Napoli lost at AC Siena.

Defeats irrelevant
Napoli had to win to stand any chance of returning to the top division, but they crashed to a 2-1 away defeat. There were also defeats for Reggina and Empoli in the penultimate round of matches, but they were rendered irrelevant as the pair are now guaranteed to finish in the top four.

Staying in Serie B
Empoli lost 3-2 at Ancona Calcio, while Ternana Calcio notched a 1-0 win at home to Reggina. But Empoli and Reggina have 67 points each, while Napoli are on 61 with just one match left to play and are resigned to another season of Serie B football.
