UEFA Cup winners Feyenoord have moved quickly to replace the gap filled by the departure of Jon Dahl Tomasson.
Versatile forward
The Dutch side have reached a four-year agreement with SC Heerenveen's talented forward Anthony Lurling. The 25-year-old, who can be used as a striker or on the left-wing, will become the fourth Heerenveen player in the last five years to join Feyenoord.
Prolific season
Lurling, who started his career alongside Ruud van Nistelrooij at FC Den Bosch, joined Heerenveen in 1999. His 18 goals in 32 matches helped the Friesian club qualify for the 2001/02 UEFA Champions League.
Finished fourth
He was not as prolific last season but still turned in some impressive performances. Heerenveen finished fourth in the Eredivisie and will play in next season's UEFA Cup, a competition won by Feyenoord earlier this month with a 3-2 victory over BV Borussia Dortmund.
Off to Milan
Tomasson was the man of the match in that final. It was the perfect send off for the Dane who signed a contract with Italian club Milan AC just before the match after four years with Feyenoord.
