Roussey heads home

Laurent Roussey has left FC Sion to take up an assistant coach's post at Lille OSC.

Laurent Roussey has resigned as coach of FC Sion to return to France and take up the post of assistant coach at Lille OSC alongside Claude Puel.

Replacement found
"We knew about Roussey's intentions for a long time, but he signed the contract with Lille only last weekend," Sion sports director Jean-Michel Ripa said.  Ripa added that the club had already decided on a replacement for Roussey but would not reveal his name before the club secures its top-flight status for next season.

Waiting for a license
Sion are one of five clubs from the first division who have not been granted a license for the 2002/03 season because they do not meet the financial criteria set out by the Swiss Football Association (SFV-ASF). If they do not get a license - and a final decision will be made in June - they face relegation to the second division.
