Sweeping change
Perrin will become Marseille's general manager, in charge of sporting matters, having agreed a three-year deal to replace Bernard Tapie. His appointment follows that of new chairman Christophe Bouchet as owner Robert-Louis Dreyfus makes sweeping changes at the Vélodrome. Marseille finished ninth in Le Championnat, two places behind Troyes.
Reinventing Troyes
Commenting on Perrin's arrival, Bouchet said: "In nine years Alain Perrin rebuilt Troyes from top to bottom, making them a great club. He was able to find answers to the many problems he faced there." The 45-year-old moved to Troyes in 1993 from AS Nancy-Lorraine. Last summer, after defeating Newcastle United FC in the UEFA Intertoto Cup final, Perrin's side reached the UEFA Cup second round where they lost narrowly to Leeds United AFC.
Bonnevay on his way
Meanwhile, Troyes chairman Daniel Vecelet has announced that Jacky Bonnevay has been appointed as Perrin's successor. The impressive Bonnevay led AS Beauvais-Oise to seventh position in the second division.
