Liverpool FC's Markus Babbel is ready to return to action in a testimonial match next week.

Babbel accepts friendly offer
Babbel hopes to play in a testimonial game on Tuesday for his former German international team-mate Thomas Helmer - eight months after he was struck down by Guillain-Barre Syndrome. The condition, which causes breathing problems and paralysis, left the 29-year-old in a wheelchair and cut short his season after just a handful of apearances.

Reunion of EURO 96™ winners
Babbel is now back in training at Anfield and has agreed to join up with his ex-international team-mates in the match at Bielefeld between Germany's UEFA European Championship winners of 1996 and FC Bayern München. Andreas Köpke, Mario Basler, Fredi Bobic, Stefan Kuntz, Dieter Eilts and Thomas Strunz will appear for the EURO 96™ team.
