CS Sedan-Ardennes have virtually secured their French first division status for next season.

CS Sedan-Ardennes have virtually secured their Le Championnat status after a thrilling 3-2 victory over FC Metz on Tuesday.

Metz in trouble
Sedan, fourth from bottom at the start of the evening, needed to come from behind to defeat Metz, who remain out of the relegation zone. The victory sent Sedan rocketing six places up the table.

Bastien opener
Christophe Bastien gave the home side the lead in the 42nd minute, before Cédric Mionnet slotted the ball past Jacques Songo'o at the far post eleven minutes into the second half. The impressive Moussa N'Diaye put Sedan ahead for the first time on the hour mark, ghosting past Franck Signorino and placing the ball, left-footed, over the diving Songo'o.

Peyrelade on target
Metz striker Shevi Adebayor had two 'goals' disallowed, before Laurent Peyrelade put them further behind when he connected with a superb diving header following Philippe Celdran's pinpoint cross, rendering Metz's second goal scant consolation.
