KRC Genk closed in on the Belgian title after beating R. Excelsior Mouscron 3-1 on Sunday.

KRC Genk closed in on the Belgian title as they moved three points clear at the top of the Jupiler League with two matches left to play after beating R. Excelsior Mouscron 3-1 tonight.

Sonck strike
Christophe Grégoire gave Mouscron the lead just before the break with a beautifully curled shot into the far corner. But Genk struck back in the 55th minute when Wesley Sonck capitalised on a defensive error from Gordan Vidovic to level the scores. Michal Zewlakow's rash challenge on Sonck in the 61st minute allowed Bernd Thijs to put Genk in front from the penalty spot.

Dagano on target
Then with ten minutes remaining Moumouni Dagano received a knock down from Sonck, and fired the ball underneath the advancing Franky Vandendriessche to secure what could prove to be a very valuable three points.

Blow for Brugge
Club Brugge KV's title challenge was dealt a blow on Sunday as financially troubled RWD Molenbeek held them to a 1-1 draw.

Quick to react
Brugge found themselves a goal down eight minutes before half-time when Laurent Fassotte was the first to react to a loose ball after Ivica Jarakovic's shot had been parried by Danny Verlinden.

Mendoza makes up
With 15 minutes remaining Andrés Mendoza made up for missing a host of earlier chances by hitting the equaliser, taking the ball on himself and firing low into the corner, but Brugge were unable to find a winner.

Brave Eendracht beaten
Meanwhile, already-relegated KSC Eendracht Aalst put on a brave performance against R. Standard de Liège but eventually lost by the odd goal in three. Johan Walem's cross was steered into Eendracht's net for the opening goal by Gonzague Vandooren, but although Bjorn de Wilde levelled the scores, six minutes from full time Ali Lukunku's header handed Standard all three points.
