Wins for Lokomotiv and Torpedo

The Georgian Cup semi-final first legs were won by FC Lokomotiv Tbilisi and FC Torpedo Kutaisi.

A repeat of last year's Georgian Cup final remains on the cards after FC Torpedo Kutaisi and FC Lokomotiv Tbilisi won their respective semi-final first-leg ties today.

Torpedo dominate
Torpedo, last season's double winners, beat FC WIT Georgia Tbilisi 1-0 through a Zviad Kutateladze strike. Yet the score did not reflect the home side's dominance as Malkhaz Asatiani, Roman Akhalkatsi and Andriy Poroshin, who set up Kutateladze's goal, all hit the woodwork in the second half.

Narrow advantage
In Tbilisi, Lokomotiv had to battle to earn a narrow advantage from their home leg against city rivals FC Dinamo Tbilisi. Lokomotiv, under their new coaching duo of Sergo Kotrikadze and Gia Jishkariani, were contained in the first half by a hard-working Dinamo side. However, Zaza Janashia, who recently joined from FC Lokomotiv Moscow, set up Mamuka Rusia for the only goal on 73 minutes.

Second legs
Janashia also had a goal disallowed for offside. The second legs will be played on 4 May.
